Low Batteries
This is the MOST common issue. The Dyno box comes on, but keeps loosing connection, or is not reading speed/rpm correctly, try new batteries. Also, regular batteries, even new, don't work well, under 50 degrees. We strongly suggest these. They always work.
Low/No RPM
Most spark plug cables have a strong enough signal that the clip can read it directly. If you are having trouble getting a good RPM signal, try wrapping the provided copper wire around the cable to act as a signal magnifier. Clip onto the copper coil to get a stronger RPM reading.
High RPM
Most small engines have a 1p1r firing pattern, meaning one spark Pulse per 1 Revolution, so that is the default, in Settings. If your RPM is reading about twice what it should, you probably have a more advanced motor that only has 1 spark Pulse per 2 Revolutions, so you need to select 1p2r.
Disconnected
If you have the older style Dyno Box with a switch, instead of the new Button, you may be getting short power disconnects, because the switch is vibrating. This will cause a disconnect screen in the app. Try using a strong rubber band (stronger than pictured) to hold the switch tightly in the ON position.
